Mark & Mary’s Boxted Hall Love Story

Thank you so much for photographing our wedding day, the day goes by so quickly and it so lovely to have so many beautiful pictures from the day - Mary, The Bride

As wedding season winds down and we head into winter, it brings me a huge amount of joy to look back at some of this year’s recent love stories. Let me introduce you to Mark and Mary, who met on Bumble (Mark swiped right because Mary said, ‘All I ask is that you make me a cup of tea in the morning’, while Mary swiped right because Mark’s profile said he loved dogs – and you may even spot some sneaky dog illustrations for their table names) and it was love at first swipe. Without further ado, keep scrolling and immerse yourself in their ridiculously lovely wedding day...

The couple set their sights on a late spring wedding, tying the knot on Saturday 13th May 2023 at Fornham All Saints Church in Bury Saint Edmunds. There’s something so special about a traditional church wedding – from the romantic atmosphere to the beauty of the stained-glass windows. Following a heartfelt ceremony, the couple headed to their reception venue with their loved ones to continue the celebrations.

Nestled within the picturesque Suffolk countryside, Mark and Mary fell in love with Boxted Hall, an enchanting backdrop that offers couples a timeless location to begin their ‘happily ever after’.  The Hall boasts a historic charm, while the gardens are meticulously manicured (a photographer’s dream!). Boasting an intimate yet exclusive feel, it comes as no surprise to me that Mark and Mary could see themselves spending the day with their favourite people here.

Guests were greeted with lots of personal details and thoughtful touches, including sage green stationery, a ‘help yourself’ drinks station and some of the most mouth-watering canapés imaginable! The newlyweds arrived with their bridesmaids in tow (who looked elegant in green gowns – can you guess the colour palette?!). The couple wanted to make the most of the grounds and gardens at Boxted Hall, as well as the warm spring weather, entertaining their guests with garden games which had everyone laughing! I couldn’t get over the beauty of their three-tier wedding cake, which was adorned with hand-painted florals that matched the blooms styled throughout their wedding day. As everyone made their way into the dining room for the wedding breakfast, Mark, Mary and their loved ones were greeted with elegant trestle tables dressed with ivory table linen and floral centerpieces. Jars of cornflower blue and ivory posies were displayed in dainty glass vases on tree slices, marrying elegant design with rustic vibes.

As a wedding photographer, I love nothing more than to whisk couples away for their romantic newlywed portraits. Luckily, Boxted Hall boasts an array of swoon-worthy backdrops that we certainly made the most of. From the ancient bridge to the weeping willow tree, we were spoilt for choice! As we headed back inside to enjoy the rest of the meal, the wedding speeches took place, toasts were made and everyone tucked into a delicious feast. What followed was a night of dancing, celebrating and enjoying the incredible music courtesy of ‘The Wilderman Trio’.

It was a true honour to be able to capture Mark and Mary’s love story at Boxted Hall. My diary is officially open for 2024, so if you are looking to have your wedding day captured with elegance, now is the time to get in touch. In the meantime, make sure you’re following me over on Instagram to keep up-to-date with behind-the-scene snippets and real weddings galore!
